    Namkha (sky)

    Namkha is an ancient, pre-Buddhist tradition practised in Bön. Bön was a shamanistic tradition prevalent in Tibet before Yungdrung Bon was introduced from Zhang Zhung before B.C to Tibet. Since then, Bön has been suppressed and largely incorporated into philosophy. however, there has been a revival of Bön, which had in turn incorporated many in Yungdrung Bon and Buddhist aspects, in order to survive and thrive. Namkha is one of the Bön rituals that were incorporated into Buddhism. The Tibetan word namkha (sky) itself is quintessentially Bön – the sky being a Bön hallmark.
